The begining

In just 5 days I turn 29. 29 for most is not a major milestone, but for me it marks the last years of my twenties.

When I was a kid I would daydream about my future as most kids do. I dreamt I would be a lawyer or a fashion designer, married at 25, first kid at 28 and living that perfect suburban lifestyle. You know the peppy fun mom car, perfect model body, great house complete with Fido in the white picket fenced front yard, perfect kids and perfect husband all clad in Ralph Lauren. Instead, I got something completely different in which I am unsure of if it is better or not. I am an accountant, live in a condo in the city, single with no kids, drive a hybrid, have no front yard to speak of and favor Michael Kors or Ellie Tahari over Ralph Lauren. My life in my eyes, although not what predicted, is awesome. I am always traveling, spending time with friends, exploring new interests and having fun. If only my house was magically cleaned and groceries magically stocked by little gnomes everyday!

Yes, there were moments where my life could have fit into that picture perfect dream. The guy that could have been the husband had I not waken up from the dream to realize how different we are. The contemplating going to law school just because I can argue my way out of anything. The house hunting in the 'burbs with said guy only to have a breakdown in the car after realizing I was a city girl at heart. The road I took was much different than expected and I can only imagine the next decade or two won't follow a "normal" path either!

With one year to go to 30, there is not much I would change in my life except to enter my thirties in the best shape of my life. Something clicked in my head yesterday (maybe it was the 30 is the new 20 sign I saw) that I am not where I want to be health wise. Over the next 370 days, my one goal in life is to put my health and wellness first. I will aim to run that extra mile, swim that extra lap and hike the higher peak just because I can. Follow me over the year and see if I succeed in my goal!
